POLICE CONFUSED BRIAN’S MOTHER FOR HIM
In the days following Gabby’s reported disappearance, police were monitoring the Laundrie family home.
However, Brian slipped away from their watch, when investigators thought his mother was him.
“They are built kind of similarly,” said North Port Police Department spokesperson Josh Taylor to WINK News on Monday.
Police observed Brian driving away from the home in his Mustang, but believed he returned a few days later, when they saw his mother driving the vehicle back to the residence.
Taylor went on to say that Brian’s mother was wearing a baseball cap, which also led them to believe she was her son.
“Like, if you think your son’s missing since Tuesday, you’re going to bring his car back to the home — so, it didn’t make sense that anyone would do that if he wasn’t there. So, the individual getting out with a baseball cap, we thought was Brian,” said Taylor.
